Laptop Screen Repair Tips And Tricks

I was amazed that my friend has learned how to repair the laptop screen of his notebook by himself. He needs to replace the laptop backlight and inverter and he needs to open the screen of his laptop. He asked me to watch him do it by his self and it was a pleasure for me to stay over and listen to his tips and tricks.

First thing he said is that before starting to open or doing anything else on the laptop it is important to remove the battery of the computer device. He explained that on the course of repair it is just easy to accidentally turn on the power and that could bring danger of sabotaging your work and worse may cause more trouble to the function of your notebook.

It is important to also indicate the specific defect on your laptop to know exactly what you need to repair. He owns a Toshiba notebook and that is what he is going to fix. Once you identified what the problem is you have to locate the screws in order to open the open the LCD cover and to get into the inverter.

His laptop unit has 4 screws and you will need a screw driver tool to make the work easy for you in prying out the screws. It should match the size of the head of the screws in order to prevent stripping the head.

Removing the screws allows him to access the LCD, its backlight and inverter. He needs to open the plastic shell first before getting to them. He says it is important to use a sharp screw driver. He mentioned that one thing amazing with laptop devices is that they are highly durable and tough to open.

He began to remove the backlight at the top of the LCD which another sets of screws were used to secure it into the LCD. My friend used a jeweler Phillips screw driver this time as the screws were too small. It’s the first time I saw a laptop backlight which are actually fluorescent bulbs of Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp (CCFL) technology.

I learned that the LCD of a Toshiba notebook was actually manufactured by Sharp. Revealing the inverter and the backlight, he began to change and align the wires which look pretty simple. He said reinstalling or removing the wires is much easier than opening the shells of the LCD.

Nice job on sharing your experience with repairing a laptop screen. It could have been more helpful if you have a video showing how you were able to do this repair. I am interested to try doing this stuff with my laptops sans the aid of expensive computer technicians.

I am a techie with a knack for doing odd things like making repair on some minor problems of my electronic gadgets. I found your article very interesting since I have not done any repair on a laptop screen. Do we have the same repair process with a Dell laptop? Should I do it on my own? I need your suggestions.

Your work process in repairing the laptop screen is too general. I hope you could add more detailed facts on wirings, checking and testing the fluorescent bulbs, and a list of possible errors that may occur after opening the LCD screen. I hope you can add some of these facts since my laptop's screen is becoming dull. Thank you.

You have a great article about repairing your laptop's screen. However, I still prefer seeking the aid of an authorized technician to repair my laptop. A little penny to spend but safe from errors to commit.. Anyway, great suggestion!

I am so interested to learn how to repair my own laptop too. It can be costly for a student like me to pay for the service from a computer shop especially when changing the backlight seems easy to do.

My brother is some techie and he does the repair of my laptop himself. He makes it look so easy too but I guess you need to have more experience and background about the basics before trying to attempt opening your laptop.

My friend and I will try to do this one time. I think he has the same problem with the back light of his laptop. I might suggest for him to view this article.
